New York City FC’s winless run on the road extended once again Saturday night, as they fell 2-0 to the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The loss continued a trend of struggles away from home for Pascal Jansen’s side, who were unable to establish a foothold in the match or create consistent danger in the attacking third.

“The connection up front was a little off,” Jansen admitted post-match. “So we didn’t get and find our own rhythm and that was the problem, especially in the first half.”

The Revs broke the deadlock late in the opening 45, with Leo Campana converting in the 43rd minute off a clever assist from Ignatius Ganago. Just moments after the second half began, the roles reversed: Ganago found the net after latching onto a Carles Gil cross, doubling New England’s lead in the 48th minute.

From there, New York City FC struggled to respond. Despite spells of possession and a handful of shots, the final product never materialized. Goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic kept a clean sheet for the Revs with a composed and confident performance, rarely tested by a City side lacking bite up top.

“We have shown in several games that we have the quality to be very dangerous in the final third,” Jansen said. “But today it was tough, given the shape of the opponent. They had a lot of bodies behind the ball. You need to be very sharp and very bright in these moments to create real chances. In the first half, the quality was simply not there.”

Jansen acknowledged that the team is still in a growth phase, particularly in attack. “We have guys who are developing themselves into better players with more impact, more quality. Unfortunately, it’s not something that is consistent yet.”

City’s inconsistency on the road remains a concern. While flashes of promise continue to appear, they have yet to translate into points away from home. The task now for Jansen and his squad is clear: sharpen the attack, tighten the structure, and find a way to break the away-day curse before it starts to cost them more ground in the standings.
