NYCFC, Nick Cushing: "We love our fans, they are the best in MLS"

New York City FC is preparing to play the last of three consecutive home games against FC Dallas. For Nick Cushing, it is very important to still play in front of his own fans who he himself defined as the best in MLS.

"We feel at home in Queens just like in the Bronx," she said. “We love the feel of New York, the vibe, the connection we get with our fans, the real energy we get when we get those hurtful moments. We've played a lot of games at Citi Field where we've just called that real energy into the magic there. For me, it's that New York feeling.

“It's the only way to win. Of course, there is a huge demand for our performances and we play an essential part in preparing and putting in a performance that will win football matches, but you have to have that connection, that synergy, that real spark between your supporters and your team.

“We know we drive it, and if we start well, if we play highly intense football, if we play an attacking game, we can build that connection in the early parts of the game, we know our fans bring incredible support.

“In my opinion, they are the best in MLS because they not only support us here in the Bronx and Queens, they also support us on the road.

“We have seen it, and I have personally seen it in 2021 in big games, and then last season, whether it's Montréal away in the playoffs, Inter Miami at home… Those fantastic games.

“We know we play a huge part in that. It guides us every day. We use our supporters and the video that our Content Team collects to ask about performance from our players because they really like it when they connect with the fans."
