Despite their impressive third-place finish in the Western Conference last season, scoring the second-most goals in all of the league, and enjoying one of the greatest inaugural seasons in MLS history, LAFC had one concern: their away form.

Road games were their kryptonite in 2018. They finished with a 7-8-2 record away from home. Their form on the road paled in comparison to their 9-1-7 record at Banc of California Stadium and was a key reason as to why they did not secure a higher seed for the playoffs.

Sunday could be the start of a resurgent road record as LAFC will need to win matches away from home if they hope to take the top spot in the West. Two wins against elite Western rivals is sensational for Bob Bradley’s team, but they both came in the comforts of home. Can they now travel and win?

NYCFC will be a tough club to beat at Yankee Stadium as they held D.C. United to a scoreless draw just last week, but LAFC are a better team than last season. Now is the time to prove it.
